Police say a pair took a NYC subway train on a joyride and crashed it.

NEW YORK (AP) — Police have arrested a teen girl they say took an empty New York City subway train on a brief joyride before they crashed it and fled.
They are looking for a male companion they believe was also pictured on the train.
Surveillance photos released by the New York Police Department on Tuesday show one person dressed all in pink, including a pink shower cap, and another in a blue tank top. Police arrested the 17-year-old girl Wednesday around noon. They have charged her with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

The pair boarded an unoccupied train parked at the Briarwood subway station in Queens just after midnight on Sept. 12 and somehow got it running, police said in a news release. They crashed it into another parked train and ran, police said. It was unclear how much damage the prank caused. No injuries were reported.

I have heard of frat kids stealing a bus before, but I don't think you can actually steal a train is my opinion. Idk though.

There is a traffic control system for the NYC subway. Im thinking if somebody stole a train they would cause havoc.

random fact: i used to love looking out the front window in the old R-32 subway cars as they barreled down the track, now you can't because the motorman's booth takes up the entire width of the car

I've got some video on my phone of the world speeding past in Germany at 350kmh. Those trains really move and also lean into the curves so that you always feel stable and upright.

I caught it from London and we went through the channel tunnel in just a few minutes. Amazing vehicles.

Back in Aus I live in the country next to the rail line from Melbourne to Sydney, both about 5 million people. And twice a day comes our 'XPT' (Express Passenger Train) straining away up the tiny inclines at about 110kph... Nothing like going overseas to make you realise that sometimes your own first world is not really that first world...
