In 1983, brothers Henry McCollum and Leon Brown were convicted of the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in North Carolina. The accusation was based on their confession made during the investigation. In prison, they refused him, saying that they had knocked him out of them by deception.

Over the next 30-plus years, the brothers denied any involvement in the crime. For part of this period, Henry was awaiting execution. 42 suicide bombers set off on their last journey past the bars of his cells. Henry tried to commit suicide, but was pumped out.

For Leon, as a pedophile and a murderer, they created absolutely inhuman conditions in prison. According to the lawyers, what he went through "it is impossible to describe in words."

In 2014, the sentence was overturned. And now the court has awarded the two brothers to pay $ 75 million in compensation.
