In a series of unfortunate events, a groom married the sister of his bride after she collapsed and died earlier in the wedding ceremony.
The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh, India when a woman named Surabhi and man named Mangesh Kumar were tying the knot in a Hindu ceremony on May 27,Times of India reported.
During the jaimala, the exchanging of garlands by the bride and the groom in an Indian wedding, Surabhi collapsed and a doctor was called to treat her after she suffered a heart attack, News 18 reported.
After the doctor pronounced the bride dead, the families of the bride and groom agreed the bride’s
.
Radha Patel, founder of South Asian matchmaking site Single to Shaadi, said it's likely the families arranged for the sister to marry the groom because "they wanted to keep it in the family."

Patel said her mother was in a similar situation when her aunt died in childbirth and there was an idea for her mother to marry her brother-in-law.
"So much vetting goes into matching families in marriages and it is natural for the families to want to stay together," Patel said.
Her mother was unmarried and young, but her parents accepted her denial of the idea.

In the case of the Uttar Pradesh wedding, the families decided to go ahead with the ceremony while Surabhi’s body laid in another room.

It was a bizarre situation as the wedding of my younger sister took place while the dead body of my other sister was lying in another room,” Saurabh, Surabhi’s brother, told the Times of India.

We have never witnessed such mixed emotions,” Surabhi’s uncle Ajab Singh told News 18. “The grief over her death and the happiness of the wedding has yet to sink in."

I would not be surprised if this would have happened in Alabama or West Virginia, considering the "keeping it in the family" motivation.
Um....hello. Thank you very much. (Alabama here). For the record, I'm suffocating with Trump supporters all around...they live in every direction of my house. Stupid motherfuckers and they still think they're so right...so....holy? WTF?`

God! Let's just poison the whole water system and tell the Christ followers (true liberals, DUH!!) to not drink the water for a month? Buy your water from Walmart! Truly refreshing...
Can't drink the water here... fucking disgusting. Unbelievable we are surrounded by million dollar homes and the water is undrinkable.

So, was he formally divorced prior to marrying the sister, or did the first marriage not happen yet? I would hate to see him arrested for bigamy on his wedding night. I’m trying to picture all this happening. The bride drops, and the groom doesn’t even look while the families are taking the dress off of the bride, putting it on the sister, then propping her up next to the groom. The groom finally takes a look, and doesn’t notice a thing. Business as usual.

I hate these backwards ass countries. Marriage is a choice and not only do that act like "joining families" is expected. But they also don't give those getting married a choice, at all. I don't plan to ever get married, It isn't what life is about and I won't let mine be dictated by society telling me you should want to be married one day.
