200 yards with a scoped hi power round is nearly flat trajectory. Stationary target (mostly). The shot jitters is what made the kid slightly miss from a head shot. Called buck fever, it happens.

Your average guy would miss due to wind direction, even at 200 yards. I understand what you are saying but think about it logically, the guy couldn’t take the truth and decided to get rid of one person leaving his child without a father

Folks are better shots here in Mississippi. Hunters here grow up knowing as a rule of thumb a typical 3006 with a hunting load has about a 6” drift at 200 yards for every 10mph/90 degree crosswind. Not perfect but keeps you within a 2-3” target.

Anyone wanting to assassinate a famous figure would use a wind correction chart and wind speed tools.

All I’m saying is this is a shot a weekend deer/big game hinter makes many times in a season. It’s not a shot requiring military sniper skills.

Most likely he wears a vest. It hit the neck, major arteries on both sides, you're (unconcious) in less than 8 seconds from the blood loss. Brains fucked really quick without oxygen, minutes, and then the heart stops, you're dead.

First one I got was a big sambar stag. It stood there ballanced on its four legs for seconds. I thought i'd missed it. But then it just fell over. Butchering revealed broken spine and bullet through both shoulders and resting just against the skin on the other side. .303 British. Range about 50 yards.

A doe I shot a few yrs ago with 7mm-08. Just as I pulled the trigger she dipped, and I hit her in the spine. She was 2/3rds up a hill, and essentially rolled down the hill to me and the trail. Easiest pack out ever.

Yes. it can work like that but not for me...

My first sambar was on a creek line in thick scrub about a km down from the road along a very steep spur. I think I took out 4 or 5 back packs full of meat. I was fucked afterwards... but rich in meat.

I used to shoot hog deer on a mates farm and we'd drive right up to the animal in the farm truck and carry it back to hang for a couple of days before butchering. That was civilised hunting!
