Current state of music in the US

What I meant was you can get a better idea by using Google and seeing what's on chart in the US.

Wanted to hear directly from you guys that live there and get a real feel for it. I know you guys have many local radio stations in different states/cities catering for all genres. We only have the choice of national BBC radio channels which have the " Weekly Handed Down Management Playlist"which DJ's have to adhere too or usually one local station playing a mixed bag.

I know what the UK gets, I spent 14 years there, and music-wise there is a terrible selection on all radio stations. It's pretty much the same here in the US. What they get, you get, vice versa.

Like I said in the original post, the X Factor has contributed to much of the current shit over here introducing yet more shitty talentless artists on the nation. I know its on in the states so wondered if its responsible plaguing you guys also.

The best songs I've just randomly discovered recently were clicking shit on YouTube or on pandora. Our radio stations play bullshit. Here in town we have one station that plays kinda original stuff, but its not my cup of tea. Its called cd 102.5

It used to be called cd 101, but they got kicked off that dial and renamed the station. Cd 101 made a lot more sense than cd 102.5, but whatever. Its geared more toward college kids, but they do play some pretty cool shit you won't hear anywhere else sometimes. They used to have a stream, i was gonna link it, but they stopped. They can't afford it. Sooooo, this entire post is now pointless but i spent the time typing it....imma post it anyway.

Same crap here max. illuminati slave music. But we do have a bustling underground to counter act it as well.

I like that chick lilly allen in the UK is her music considered mainstream ? I also like anything by mike skinner / the streets

Yes Lilly Allen is mainstream chav crap.

If you stick to rock/metal music, (just generalization, no specific sub-genres) you'll stay with some good music. If you like pop and R&B (which seems to be what XFactor-like shows are all about) then find yourself the nearest port-a-john and shove your head 12 inches into it until death. It'll be less painful really.
I like all kinds of music but I can't stand half the shit that is being put out there. And the stuff I do like from TV shows, they kill the person off and he/she is never heard from again. It's basically pointless lol.

Yep I think Lilly's stuff is considered mainstream. She has done some really original stuff.

Glad to see you can still get a good dose of metal. Theres hope yet maybe ?

Every now and then I'll find some pop one off that actually interests me, for everything else that the local stations get there hands on is played to death. AT first you can appreciate it for what it is, but after hearing it for the twentieth time in a four hour shift makes you want to bust the radio. Used to be a fan of the country stations but they do the same shit as the two pop stations. Can't really listen to much country anymore cuz of them.
