I'm not sure. I've seen fans talking about it on Slipknot's Facebook page saying that he had to change his vocal style because the way he had been singing had fucked his voice up. A lot of singers who just do raw screaming like that typically end up shredding their vocal chords. The way he sounds now reminds me a lot of how he sounded on the first album.
