Georgia, 2024.
A tourist who was dancing had a narrow escape after being struck by lightning while dancing. Cameras captured the moment when 32-year-old Russian Pavel Smirnov was struck by lightning while dancing on a pier in the Georgian resort of Batumi.
He was on vacation with his brother and a friend, who were unharmed when the lightning struck.
As he fell to the ground, he said he was convinced he was going to die.
Pavel explained: “The first thing I saw was a tunnel of light. You’re dancing, and a second later, you’re dying. Everything burns as if you were in hell; it’s hard to breathe, and your legs and arms won’t respond. I thought I’d hold on a little longer and that I’d end up suffocating or burning to death. It felt as if my insides and my body were on fire.”
