Warning: Children Drunk truck driver runs over and kills 8-year-old kid ~ Brazil

An 8-year-old child, identified as Luís Miguel Milhomem, died early Friday evening (28) after being run over by a truck in Folha 33, Nova Marabá, in the state of Pará. The accident happened around 6:30 pm, in Block 20, in front of the house where the boy lived.

The truck driver, Carlito Pereira dos Santos, was arrested by the Military Police. According to the officers, he showed clear signs of intoxication and confessed to having consumed alcoholic beverages before driving. Witnesses say that the driver could barely stand at the time of the approach.

According to family members, Luís Miguel was playing with other children in the street when the vehicle suddenly appeared from a dead-end street and hit him. The impact was fatal, and the boy died at the scene. His grandmother, Iraceli Milhomem, stayed by the body until the arrival of the authorities, amidst great commotion from relatives and residents.

The area was cordoned off for forensic work, which should reveal details about the dynamics of the accident. The case was registered at the 21st Urban Police Precinct, which will investigate the circumstances and responsibilities for the crime.

At the police station, the driver admitted to drinking, but denied seeing the child on the road. The company that owns the truck has not yet commented.
