In Palmela, Portugal, a 16-year-old boy was rescued in serious condition after falling from an escalator at Penalva railway station.

It is not known for sure how or why the boy ended up clinging to the outside of the escalator, but he ended up falling a height of around ten metres, suffering several fractures in the process.
