I had the MC5 Album many years ago it took quite a few lists to get into it but became one of my favorite live albums.
Oh really, why’d it take you a few listens?

Try some 60s Garage

Yea alot of it is proto punk. I enjoyed that song thanks. This is some I really enjoy:

It took a few times to gett used to his high pitched voice but it grew on me.
High pitch? I wouldn’t say that about his voice but maybe I listen to higher pitch voice music lol.

Punk from Soviet Union. In the video some clips are from 1980s or 1970s, some from 2007.

Wow cool! Wish I knew the lyrics.

Lyrics of the Soviet punk song, it's about a city of Tallinn burning down:

"Before 6o'clock nothing had happened
nobody in front of Moskva*
One could only feel a wonderful tension in the air
as i stepped in through the door
sitting, having my cold coffee, the air is getting hotter
the curtain moves, the window is smashed
as if we had all agreed on it we turn our eyes towards it
our eyes looking at a blaze
Look- Tallinn is on fire!
Tallinn is on fire!
Tallinn is on fire!
Hooray!
(The city! The city is on fire!)
The fire began quarter past 6 , caught fire crackling
In like 20 places at the same time
Like dry tinders houses catch fire one after another
The blaze rolls over Tallinn
Panicked people running around
Looking for shelter from the flames
Their weak legs can't save them anymore
The blaze will catch them all
Look! Tallinn is on fire!
Tallinn is on fire!
Tallinn is on fire!
Hooray!!
Wake up!
Tallinn is on fire!
No such thing has been seen before!
Astonished i gaze
How Olümpia** and Estonia*** crumble
At a distance a sea of fire is shining, there Lasnamägi**** falls
Tallinners, men of iron
hardened in fire
Tallinn is on fire! (Tallinn is on fire!)
Tallinn is on fire! (Tallinn is on fire!)
Tallinn is on fire! (Tallinn is on fire!)
Hooray!! (x2)"

Moskva- was a popular caffee in Tallinn, now it has a different name
Olümpia- well-known hotel in Tallinn
Estonia - opera in Tallinn
Lasnamägi- one part of the city

Fascinating and harrowing stuff! What is the fire that they are referring to? The Stalinist invasion and annexation and subjugation of Estonia?

I do not know exactly and I am not sure. The song was written on 1989 and most probably they got at least some inspiration of the "March bombing" in 1944. It started after 6pm on 09th March 1944 and quite big part of Tallinn burned down due to bombing, including opera Estonia (which is mentioned in song lyrics). Also in the video there are some clips from that bombing aftermath. But- on 1944 caffee Moskva had a different name and there was no hotel Olümpia. So it might be some anarchist dream, where true facts from history are mixed with a fantasy.

Band Velikije Luki is still active today, I visited one party few months ago in old abandoned prison and they gave a concert there.

Wow this is so fascinating, I’ll have to look it up to learn more about it. How is Estonia doing these days, are from there?
