They're not that dumb, they just don't have to give a shit. Their skin is completely loose from their body so if you step on it, bite it, maul it, they just slip inside within themselves and you're only actually messing with the thick skin. Several lions can go at one of these things for half an hour and it will still slip and turn around in its own skin to try and bite their nuts. Real tough bastards.
