typical standoffs can last hours. The perp was having a mental break down, just needed to release some energy, he wasn't trying to kill anyone, he was just letting off energy, not charging anyone... the big fat cop got tired, literally, cause he weighs close to 400lbs, and it was hot and humid, and he got tired, and shot the guy to end it so he can go back to sitting on his ass and eating.
