I personally know of two young women who have piercings on their facial area.
One of them is a neighbor across the street and one house over.
She has a piercing through her left eyebrow.
I occasionally encounter her when we're walking our dogs, and we'll stop and exchange pleasantries with each other.
She's in her mid-30's, is married, and is a nice girl...but the stud through her left eyebrow somewhat annoys me, and I find it distracting and needless...and a detraction from her overall persona.
The second young woman works where I work.
She's in her late 20's, has a long-term live-in boyfriend, and is also a very nice girl...but she has a piercing to one side of her upper lip.
Again, I find her facial piercing to be annoying and distracting...and I believe it detracts from her overall persona.
From across a room, it appears that she might have an unsightly mole on one side of her upper lip...but when you get closer to her, you realize that it's a lip piercing with an unsightly stud through her upper lip.
Now, since both of these young women have "significant others" at home, I can logically conclude that they don't have facial piercings to impress or attract men.
Thus, my logical conclusion is that women engage in this tom-foolery and defacement of themselves in an attempt to impress other women.
