I read a study that concluded stupid people think they are smart and that others are stupid. Due to their lack of cognitive ability, they can't comprehend concepts beyond their limited reasoning ability. As a result, their response to things they do not understand is to conclude that those things are unimportant or stupid. That explains why we never hear stupid people admit they did stupid things or that they hold stupid ideas, because to them they don't. We can't win.
