The best thing to do when you have an injury like that or a penetrating injury, an injury where you could hypothetically bleed out IS to stay calm & not freak out if you can. Also don't get combative with anyone trying to save/help you even if they move or poke your injury and it hurts like fucking hell.

It was so fast I was shocked. My knife was also so sharp it just felt like I’d bumped against my finger. Then I looked at it and it was spewing blood with a gaping 45° slash through the top of it. So I tied a slip knot with some paracord and cinched it down, wrapped some tp around it and shoved it into a glove. Packed everything up and got to the hospital about 2 hrs later.

👏👏👏 Sounds like you knew what to do. What did you take the paracord from? My favorite SOG blade came w/paracord pre-wrapped as it's handle covering & makes it easy to grip especially when wet & ofcoarse you can use the paracord for whatever if need be.

I cut the tip of one of my pinkies badly with a ceramic kitchen knife that is supposedly so sharp most metals can't be made that sharp but I'm glad it was super sharp or it could've been disastrous because I was too inebriated to drive myself to the ER & it's much easier to mend, no scar tissue & less pain imo.

Those high end kitchen knives scare me, I’m way too oafish in the kitchen and will surely sever something with them. Just took my thumb knuckle off with the grater last week 🤦🏻‍♂️
