GUATEMALA CITY, (December 3, 2024) — During the afternoon of Tuesday, December 3, Luis Alfredo Arias Zuleta, the driver of a Mustang sports car, was chased for several blocks in zone 9 of the capital. His attackers were two hitmen who were traveling on a motorcycle.
After reaching 12th Street and 4th Avenue in Zone 9, the driver was caught by the hitmen, who shot him repeatedly until he died.
At that moment, Luis Alfredo Arias Zuleta was waiting for the traffic light to change. However, that was when the men drew their weapons and then fled.
The attack against Luis Arias was direct, the PNC explained, and could be linked to drug dealing, a turf war between drug structures that operate in that sector, or settling scores.
In their escape attempt, the hitmen were run over by a public transport bus after they crossed a red light.
