I am a martial arts instructor by profession. I think that martial arts is 95% useless bullshit, with the remaining 5% being practical. I have made this video to teach you the remaining 5%, i.e. how to knock someone out (or down, preferably) in self defense.

Do not use this information to do anything illegal.

Fuck off.

I can knock people out by batting my eyelashes and blowing a kiss.

I've been doing taekwondo since I was in 3rd grade and I can say with confidence that the 95% is mental training and instilling values. I don't see it as a waste but if you just want to learn how to fight than it's not for you, martial arts is the step below something more dedicated like being a Buddhist monk, and a step above something like boxing.

First and foremost, a "professional martial arts instructor" saying that 95% of what is taught it is useless speaks badly of him, his instructor, of what he learned and of what he teaches. It really calls into question at least his knowledge in that martial art. NOTHING that is taught in martial arts is useless. Absolutely EVERYTHING has a reason and a use.

Second (and this is also related to the first) there is no such thing as "knockout techniques", a knockout is the result of several factors, not a particular technique. A technique can generate a knockout or it can generate only annoyance in another person depending on the situation, and a simple slap can generate a knockout as well...

100% bullshit....

Kicking is the most self detrimental move you can use in a street fight or self defense unless you have been trained and practice regularly. If you have no experience with kicking it's best to keep both feet on the ground for balance or for bolting. There are so many things you can do to your opponent to put them on the ground or end a fight when you catch hold of their kicking leg.

Of this entire thread for now this is the only advice that I highlight as 100% true and useful.....

Oh yeah definitely. If (big if) you gotta kick, keep it low.

I've never seen anyone knocked out by a front-leg hook kick. And if this ever happens then the guy is probably retarded and ran straight into it.
