Massive head injury. When the car went on it's side and towards the wall, his head hit one of the fence poles even with protection from a helmet and roll cage. If you watch in slo-mo it is easier to see. Incredibly bad luck because hitting just the fence and not the fence pole would not have been fatal and likely he would have walked away.
