The only bizarre thing is that he eats it raw.
The future belongs to the bugs, only tested, controlled and properly processed.
Unlike conventional animal farms, they reproduce faster, mature with less, eat everything, and are high in protein.
Less carbon emissions, less work, more profit.
I don't really like it, but it's one possible future.
I like Asimov's yeast variation vision better.
Soylent green on the other hand, I don't want to live through.
