It was the guy in the Tommy Gear type jacket with red and white front that was holding the spot light so presumably filming the initial footage. He probably influenced the majority of the crashes by shining the spot light into the windows of passing cars which would have fucked up the drivers’ vision. There was clearly the collective brain cells of a butt worm behind the wheels of several of the cars, but don’t go blinding a butt worm as they navigate a motorway!

One should have a flashing warning light in the trunk for such a case.
Here it's mandatory to have a reflecting triangle in your car. But to put it up on an Autobahn has its own risks.
Against idiots, the triangle/light doesn't help anyway.

It's not a cop filming. It's a journalist that happened upon the accident. Police had not yet arrived on the scene. That round thing outside his car window is a spotlight shining on the wreck. The drivers slamming into the already crashed cars are idiots.

I think he's one of those traffic accident / waiters / chasers , its big money to have your content on the 11 o'clock news in Los Angeles / California
Yeah the drivers were retarded butt worms and the pile up wouldn’t have happened if the could apply the breaks and turn a steering wheel. But I do think having a flood light suddenly lighting up the inside of the car can cause a sudden distraction, temporary reduced ability to see out of a window to a dark outside and temporary reduction in night vision making it harder to make sudden emergency manoeuvres. I’ve experienced it a couple of times while doing home visits in rough areas of town where the kids think it’s a fun game to aim hand-held spot lights or lasers at marked vehicles like our “doctor” cars. Even through the side windows it instantly causes a problem.
I appreciate the guy was trying to light up the stationary cars to make them visible to oncoming traffic, but the inside of the passing cars that cut through the high power spot light would have suddenly become very bright, with reflections off windows and mirrors. Add that to their eyes being adjusted to night vision and the low light sensitive rod cells can all have their chemical reaction triggered by a bright light in one go. A split second camera flash can fire off most of the rods at once which can then take seconds or even minutes to reverse the enzymatic reaction in the cells to get them ready to work again. The short blast of light in the car could do the same thing, thus removing night vision for a period of time. Partially blind retards are shit drivers!
