Texas chainsaw massacre. 2022.
Unrateable pile of shit.
A group of city kids go to a run down town with the idea of making it a 'hip place.'
I gave the film 30mins before i reached for the FF button. It was well filmed with a plot, some very one sided characters, alot of gore but a whole lot of unrelenting garbage as well.
The film is a Netflix version of the Halloween reboot with Jamie Lee Curtis. It 'tries' to synch it up with the original by saying 'Sally' who survived the original and has disappeared is now a hard as nails older lady out for revenge when she hears leather face is back.
It has alot of violence in it.
SPOILERS.
'Leatherface' cuts the skin off his own 'mother' right at the start, shit you see him before he is L.F. and its obvious its him.
The 'final girl' is a school shooting survivor, who has to óvercome her fear of guns, so she can blast L.F.
These idiots have a bus load of ínvestors come to town and L.F. chainsaws them, inside the bus.
Alot reactions online were saying how good it was, if mindless dribble masquerading as entertainment qualifies as a good film to a bunch of brainless idiots who probably haven't seen the original, then this is the film for you. If you HAVE seen the original, don't go in with any expectations.

Walker want his 93 thousand.
Lee Marvin stars as 'Walker', one third of a trio including his wife that rip off a money drop only for him to shot and left for dead.
Payback with Mel Gibson (1999) is a remake of this film but with more violence and story added.
The original is quieter but still has a level of intensity with Walker determined to get the cash from 'the organization'. Same characters but a little different. Good thriller as opposed to a 'action/revenge' film.

A comic novelist is writing stories that are coming true.
Spirit based horror about a writer whose stories make her the suspect in a series of deaths. The film kicks off straight away with the first death. It establishes the link between the comics and the victim nicely. From there two detectives get involved. Deaths are typical of asian horror, but still retain a graphic factor mixed with some parts of the comic. Steady pace for most of the film with the story evolving as it goes. By the final act the whole backstory is explained, this slows the film alot but its still interesting. Despite the silly title the film is engaging, creepy and layered with good effects and plot.

A old bloke steals a painting by Goya.
Well meaning 'feel good' film about a middle/lower class older man in 1961 who writes plays doesn't want to pay his TV license.
Starring two fine british actors, it has a lightness to it but just fails to keep the interest level past the first 30-40 minutes. Light on any sort of plot and relies on Helen Mirran and Jim Broadbent to carry it along.

A group of soldiers are tasked with rescuing a hostage from a mountain top castle.
Excellent mystery war time thriller. The films run time is two and half hours, but has a solid use of suspense and characters. Someone in the group is a spy and there is a layered turn of events which leads to not too over the top but well planned escape from the castle and to a plane. Richard Burton carries the film with a stern no nonsense way about him. Clint Eastwood doesn't really have alot to do, but his role as Burtons back up and why his character is the film is well earned.

The film, at least for the first two acts doesn't tell you much as you follow the main character as he transfers from body to body. Slowly it becomes apparent that there is connection with a woman and the people he transfering thru. The action scenes are well done but the plot is the main focus. The third act slows when it does a flashback and shows how everything fits together. From there it takes a bit to get back up and running but has a decent ending.

I watched the new Batman.
It was a poor copy from a cinema but I got the story and I'm genuinely surprised that it's been rated the 2nd best batman film ever made. I really think its crap. Batman and Gordon whisper to each other all the time and we got no back story of batman which I would have liked and it was really not good. I'm gona try find a better copy so I can watch it again, see uf I missed something awesome. I'd give it 3 out of 10

War drama that sets the tension right at the start and eases off only to crank it up. You see the troops sitting around, chatting about things and making phone calls to wives or girlfriends.
In this context the captain has his talks interfered with by a Kurdish fighter he calls 'the doctor'. Its plain that the two will meet at the end and it won't be good.
The film continues with them killing two kurds. This is noted by in another conversation between the two and raises the stakes.
Largely the film is set in one place so it does rely on alot of talking and mundane things. When it does kick off its loud chaotic and violent. No-one is spared.
The enemy is mainly faceless so your sympathy is attached to the soldiers.

I saw this the other day on Netflix. I agree it was absolutely horrible.

Slow burn crime thriller about a safe cracker (James Cann) and his partner (James Belushi) that get hooked up a bloke who offers a major job for them.
Starts slowly with typical Mike Mann style, sitting around talking. From there it gets to bloke in charge of the heist. The tension is steady, even when they are cutting into the safe.
Quite a scene on its own. Cann is well cast as the no nonsense thief with Belushi the loyal partner.
