Hause. Japan. 1977.
7/10.
A very surreal haunted house film about a group of young girls who got to stay with one of their aunts in a mansion. The film has a cheesy vibe most of the way thru, the effects were pretty out there, lots of cartoon imagery and weird things going on. When the horror did kick in is was pretty good based on the year it was made. But it wasn't made for a foreign audience.

Hansel and Gretel. 2007. South Korea.
8/10
The original fairytale given a fantasy reworking.
Very colourful, well filmed and acted. The core cast being a trio of young kids. The plot took the story alot further but still at its core had the original idea. Unlike Hansel and Gretel: Witch hunters, which is entertaining in a violent way, but simple in the extreme. This film had the adults getting lost in the forest and the children finding them. It didn't really have much in the way of tension or scares, just a creep factor. When the film finally explains the origin of the trio it slowed down alot and got a little boring.

I saw Joker today, Joaquin Phoenix is a hell of a good actor!
Watched it at the weekend, totally agree. Brutal, dark, Joaquin deserves an Oscar for this. 10/10

I am strangely sexually attracted to men in movies like this. Franknfurter in Rocky Horror, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, Michael Carter in Feed. Joker is now my main man.
