movies Last Movie You Watched..

Antiviral. 2012 Dir. Brandon Cronenburg.
7/10
A very fucken strange film debut from the son of David Cronenburg. The new craze for people who desire a connection with celebrities is to be infected with viruses that they are infected with.
It's not a easy film to watch, not because of the extremly good effects but the story itself is slow and kinda hard to understand. I fell alsleep with about 20 mins to go and even rewatching it wasn't enough to really grasp the point.
Nightmarish and surreal.

Judy and Punch. 2019.
6/10
A interesting take on the classic puppeters.
I know of the Punch and Judy show and the puppets but only thru small bits and pieces iv seen on TV when i was young.
The film is the story of the puppeters after their fame has faded due to Mr Punches drinking. A interesting film that was colourful as it was violent.

Why don't you just die?. Russia. 2018.
7/10
A young bloke is asked by his girlfriend to kill her dad.
Colourful and violent film that was pretty funny. Debut feature for the director with a small cast and not so simple plot.
The copy i got off torrent was fine, but i could only find one set of subtitles in english and i had a major hassle to get them lined up.
In the end i just watch it thru, most the jokes missed their mark with me but i was able to pick up on what was happening.
If another decent set gets uploaded i'll watch the film again, it would be great to really understand what happens.

Infernal affairs. Hong Kong. 2002.
7/10
Crime drama where a undercover cop tries to figure out the mole in the police.
Decent film with both sides seen by the viewer. At certain points it had tension but it wasn't consistant and the characters were overall kinda simple.
The Departed, Scorsese remake from 2006 is an hour longer. I saw that a few years ago but can't really remember it.

Tokyo ghoul. 2017. Japan.
6/10
Full length movie based on a manga book series that was made into a animated tv series.
Not a bad film, but having knowledge of the series could have helped. The cgi was kinda budget looking but good, there was nothing to really explain why the ghouls were being hunted other than they preyed on humans and that was reason enough. Kinda out there but enjoyable enough.
Not going to watch the series.

you have great reviews and picks @Jon E(vil) - which torrent sites do you use?...
Thanks!.
I check YIFY regularly, there are a wide range of films posted everyday. Pays to check most of them.
Two fims apps that i have on my fone are letterboxd and IMDB. I use those quite a bit.
Letterboxd has a great feature where users can create lists, there are lists for everything.
When i find a film i like i'll look up the director and writer to see what else they have done. On Twitter i follow alot of horror sites or people that post about film in general.
The 'Slash film daily' podcast is pretty good for film or tv news and what they'v been watching.
The Torrentz search engine is usefull for getting a lead on a specific film, but i learned that if it leads to the torrent site Monova, its probably gonna be overdubbed into Russian, mostly by one person. The Pirate Bay is still reliable, 1337x, RARBG, ETTV, that is loaded with pop-ups thou.
