The "crowd mentality" in effect is crazy. Notice how after the camera guy said "OOOH! OOOH!", several people elsewhere immediately started up the same chant for a few seconds.
That is how many small scale riots and demonstrations in history suddenly turned into full scale revolutions. The Nika Rebellion during the reign of Byzantine emperor Justinian was one of them. What started off as a sports riot involving a disputed chariot race turned into cries of "STORM THE PALACE! KILL THE EMPEROR!", and the subsequent chaos saw the destruction of over 90% of the city of Constantinople. Emperor Justinian himself barely escaped the city with his life. Another example was the French Revolution. What began as an organized march to protest the lack of bread became "STORM THE BASTILLE!" by the mid-afternoon.
