Not meant to have a motorcycle

I am better than you!
I haven’t been on a motorcycle in 20 years. They have definitely become incredibly fast. The motorcycle that I thought was fast way back then, is slow by today’s standards.

In the spring, I bought a Yamaha R1. This monster is literally A jet airplane that does not fly. I put about 500 miles on it during the summer being really careful. I started to get really good. It felt like a part of me in the turns I’ve just enjoyed the summer with it. It really brought a smile to my face.

I have all the fancy leather equipment, the jacket with the spine protector gloves, racing boots, Shoei helmet the works. I know what you’re thinking. I went too fast in a turn or did something stupid and got into a really bad accident.

I’m not more than 5 miles from my house sitting at a traffic light. A 17-year-old girl on her phone slammed into me. Luckily, the speed limit was only 30 and I think she was only doing about 20 when she hit me. I came up on the hood. My helmet hit her windshield and smashed it. I was also on my back. I didn’t really get very hurt from it just a little bit sore and a few small bruises. The leather has some deep gashes on it from the window and I’m sure the helmet probably is not reusable. from the impact,
I’m on the ground near where the bike was, and she pushed the motorcycle all the way into the intersection. An 18 wheeler and a few cars ended up running it over. It is definitely totaled.
I think this time I am not going get any more motorcycles. I was just trying to feel young, and have a little fun. I enjoy my sports car, but it is just not the same. I definitely understand the thrill of a motorcycle but I am way too scared to get on a new bike.

What?
Butt-head.webp

Got a Video??

Jokes!!
Glad you're all good. Shouldn't it be insured. Don't let some.kid ruin your fun. Get back out there. 😀😁

See, this is what I mean. Rich don't talk about being rich. You're just a dreamer.
See, this is where you’re wrong, the rich like to make sure that the poor know they’re poor. Keeps you in your place.

I’m pretty sure even you could afford it. It was only $17,000.

So you were riding an almost invisible speeding contraption, and you got into an accident with a girl that couldn't see you coming. That's the version of the story that's likely more true. Your version comes from the view of an asshole looking through the visor of a scootercycle helmet. See, the accident was your fault for being on the road with the death machine to begin with. Like I always say... If you ride expect to die doing it. You just got lucky, too bad you lived. But I'm glad you crashed and your scootercycle is ruined.

Insurance is not a problem. It just took the desire to have a motorcycle from me. Fear is a powerful thing.
I drove a motorcycle for many years and so did two friends of mine . Within one week one friend got wrapped around a telephone pole and lost several organs, the other slipped in some gravel and crushed his foot and ankle. I never rode a bike again . fear is a very powerful thing and some will disagree with me but its not a question of if you will have a accident but when👍 I.agree with your decision 😉

Naw, just lets the poor know who to hit first.
The R1 was a rocket ship, in OZ the first 50 to come into the country got sold in a flash, 6months later only about 10 of the original 50 were left, they were a bike that had to be 'ridden' 110% of the time, the slightest lapse of concentration & the fucker bit hard.

I own a 2022 R1 that I purchased around October of last year, riding is one of those things that you can only fully understand by experiencing it first hand. Those commenting that have never ridden, will never understand or appreciate the feeling. Only you can make that decision bro, if it’s a passion then never let fear stop you. If you are doing it for any other reason, I suggest just letting it go. Whatever you decide, stay safe

I've crashed 3 times and wiped out 2 bikes over a decade or so. I'm not young so the days of healing quickly are over. But the feeling that comes with riding never goes away and at some point I'll be back on one again. You can't let fear get in the way, you can die driving a car or climbing a ladder, not just on your bike.

The reason I stayed away from bikes for 20 years was because of fear. The feeling of riding, and the smells, and temperature changes. you get in the morning and early evening from wooded areas are refreshing. That riding bug bit me in the spring, and I could not resist to try it again. With all the fancy safety equipment we have now, I thought even if I fall I will be ok.
I even took a safety course and went to track school because I knew people were getting hurt on this bike because of the power. Plus I needed some training since this bike is crazy powerful, and I have not ridden for 20 years. Track school was a blast if you ever get the chance.

When you’re sitting at a traffic light and a 4000 pound car hits you. the official speed from the police (18 mph) you are still just a few hundred pounds wrapped in leather. I didn’t get hurt, just a few small bruises. . The bike got pushed into the intersection getting run over partially by a 18 wheeler and a car.
This time it feels like the universe is telling me to stick with cars. The fear monster won thus time. Never again for me. If you ride enjoy it. I’m too afraid to ever do this again.
