I guess it's similar to neutering homeless cats? Yeah, people fucked up and it's not peacocks' fault at all, but if that makes them safe and healthy, then it's a reasonable solution I guess. I can easily imagine some frustrated idiots poisoning, trapping, or shooting them, and diseases spread easily in overcrowded flocks. We can only hope it's a temporary solution and that they'll figure out something better eventually.
