I guess it's similar to neutering homeless cats? Yeah, people fucked up and it's not peacocks' fault at all, but if that makes them safe and healthy, then it's a reasonable solution I guess. I can easily imagine some frustrated idiots poisoning, trapping, or shooting them, and diseases spread easily in overcrowded flocks. We can only hope it's a temporary solution and that they'll figure out something better eventually.

Population control for the benefit of the peacocks? Keeps tabs on over population amd food scarcity. It's not a new thing in animals, as someone said, cats are neutered and spayed, dogs castrated etc...males sense. Pity humans didn't take the initiative and curb the popululation overgrowth.
