Nebraska welder, who tried his hand at drug running after meeting cartel members at a Colorado concert, will spend decades in prison after kidnapping a suspected pot thief, torturing him and raping a woman he was with that night, according to local reports.

Tanner Danielson, 31, was sentenced to 40 to 50 years for kidnapping and 30 to 40 years for sexual assault after he abducted the two on July 29, 2022, prison records show.

He pleaded no contest to the charges in June.

Believing the cartel would harm his family if he did not recover 50 pounds of marijuana that had been stolen from his house, he kidnapped the pair, drugged the man, tortured him with a blowtorch and hung him from a forklift, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

Only a sadistic and evil person could do these things to another human being," Judge Susan Strong told Danielson in court, according to the paper.

While the victim was tied up, Danielson used the torch to burn the word "thief" into his flesh.

Then, he raped the woman, drove the man 50 miles outside to outside town and left him tied to a tree.

The victim escaped and flagged a passing driver, who called 911, according to Lincoln police. Gage County deputies responded, found him with two black eyes, burns and other injuries, according to the paper.

He told them he was held captive and tortured for 12 hours.

The victims thought they were meeting up with Danielson and his accomplice, Austin Widhalm, to buy cocaine, according to authorities.

A U.S. Marshals fugitive task force captured Danielson on Aug. 1, 2022, in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Widhalm, 28, was arrested separately on assault and false imprisonment charges. He has not yet been sentenced.

This all sounds like this whole scenario could've been avoided if they all smoked a little bit of the pot and then discussed options...

😄 Had the same thought.

And yesterday I had to sweep away these joint roaches at the front door again... filthy pigs!

Better than dirty used syringes & much more recyclable if you like smokin' da ghanja. 🥴
If you are in full remission though, I think better to not smoka the reefers.

Yes, of course. 🙂 I was joking.
We had some park corners in the city here where a layer of junkie paraphernalia was lying around high like leaves in a wood at autumn. Plus the usual dirt from boozing and having a dump. Was in the '90s, and we cleaned these places at times and later installed special waste bins which got emptied by the city. It's definitely better now.
I was in the German Aids Help group at this time, doing some side jobs for them by the hour.

That was nice of you but, risky.
Fast forward to 2023 & that HIV/AIDS is less scary sort of... or maybe more so. I read this earlier & maybe there's a cure but, it will never be allowed to land.

Well now women with AIDS are capable of giving birth to babies without it thanks to medical innovation.
It wasn't like that ten years ago so there's possibly hope.

I hope so & there is IMHO. I lost someone very close to me in the late eighties who eventually got full own AIDS & developed Kaposi Sarcoma who most likely aquired it from a used sex doll/sex teaching device at one of their psycho therapist's office that they were required to see per the State of NY. It was heartwrenching to see them wither away from it but, that thankfully wasn't how they met their maker. It was definitely a death sentence once upon a time. One of the patients that had been seen in the same office prior worked in the pornography industry & IIRC had it.
Fast forward to this decade & I have a family member that is an AIDS researcher (for a vaccine) which makes me happy. I've no idea how close they are but, like all viruses, there's no true cure, only symptom management once you get it or avoidance. That avoidance in the form of a vaccine means being able to accurately predict it's mutations & where they will occur or best yet to practice safer measures beit sexual or anywhere you may encounter HIV potentially, I.E. medical & lab settings.
Actually, 10 years ago it was absolutely possible already & prior. 10 years ago, those who suffer with HIV/AIDS needed to only seek treatment which my doctor said is more like how they treat diabetics.
