I have no issue with pulling the gun and the first shot/s at close range, but pumping them into the fella when he's running away puts him in a tricky legal situation.

It could be argued in defense of the shooter that he felt the others who there with the fat guy were potential threats as well. Then to keep the odds down it was justifiable to shoot fatty in the back as he ran away to remove the potential. Not making sure he stayed down would have left the possibility of him catching his wind and regrouping for another round. Adrenaline is a helluva drug.

That's how I see it.

I think in this situation he carried on firing because either adrenaline kicked in, or he was making sure the guy was not getting distance to regroup and return fire, plus most shots missed
