I just watched that on replay about 6 times. I think it was the tendon below the knee - the patella tendon?

I kinda agree with Dr. @Rick James the patella tendon (which is technically a ligament as it connects bone to bone) looks like it may have ruptured. The other structures in the knee usually tear when u have all the weight on one leg and twist.
Would've been nice to see if he could stand on it because usually that's hard to do with a PT rupture. Also the patella almost always ends up above the knee joint as it's still attached to the tendon of the quadriceps femoris.
In my opinion his ACLs have ruptured (anterior cruciate ligaments). There are two, anterior (front) and posterior (back) and they cross over each other inside the joint to prevent the femur falling forward or backward off the tibial plateau.@Flatus Tube should be able to analyze it

I always used a decline bench. I’ve seen too many hilarious injuries in my career to risk it lol.It's a core exercise but the problem is he doesn't have properly developed hamstrings to support the knee with the kind of weight he is pulling, going way too hard too fast for where he is
oh ya there's plenty of alternatives to this one but he's got no business with that kind of weight on him. he should be training the big 3 compound strength builders (deadlift, bench press, squat) with progressively heavier loads for a few years as a beginner to train his body to lay down more calcium on his bones by putting vertical load-bearing stress on his skeleton. he just hasn't adapted to the rigors of this kind of training yet. Very good points. Although not the typical mechanism of injury for ACL/PCL tears the pic you've frozen looks like a positive Drawer Test.
