music The Dr Nimble Music Thread (Flatus Tube’s Alter Ego)

I thought it was about time I share my music properly, to give you a glimpse into the crazy world of my mind, well a different glimpse anyway as you know I’m crazy already. I’ll share in separate posts in case you specifically want to express your distaste to a particular song. I’ve been writing and producing music since I was 15 and scratch DJing from 16.

I used to be called DJ Nimble Fingerz but had to change my name when I started uploading music to the internet as searching me just found shit loads of gay porn with ‘nimble fingers’. Not great for marketing!

I’ll start with Release The Beast, as it’s one of my older tunes, and link the chronology of its evolution from the original written around 2002 (my favourite) to the released version, which is available to stream on all major platforms 😉. The older ones were made using an old version of Reason which was shit for creating the final wav file giving a muddy mix that didn’t sound great on club sound systems or anything decent really. The newer version was done around 2008 and made using Cubase.

The released version…

Critical Mass was my most popular tune back when Dubstep was actually Dubstep. I wasn’t actually that pleased with it as the bass line was more simple. It had the most club and radio play in Belgium and California for some reason lol. I did this as a free download and never released it (as it’s somewhere in the drive of an old PC I need to rebuild).

One of my favourite intros is on Steel City. I’ve always loved John Williams’ soundtracks and the cord change was based on the Map Room music from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Steel City is the nickname of my home town as it made reyt gud steel tha’ knows. @Humungus knows the score!

My wife does the vocals on my tunes.

My friend and vocalist is a physiotherapist, and manages to promote healthy living while sounding like a grime/ hip hop rapper with a Yorkshire accent. He wrote the lyrics to a simple drum beat I made so I could write the music to fit his flow. Went for old school Garage style with this…

His friend made the lyric video for YouTube. Not yet formally released.

Save The Penguins (light hearted name based on a lyric in the tune) is about climate change and the music is a remix of an old song of mine I wrote back when I was a student.

My friend/ rapper is a top bloke. He nearly died as a teenager being hit by a car on a dark rainy day. He needed two open craniotomy operations so what looks like a gangster hair cut when he has short hair is actually a dirty great scar! Maybe it knocked his vocal skills into him 😂.

Released version (again all all major streaming platforms 😉😉😉).

The original Reason song…

Like your stuff man thanks for sharing. Not a big fan of dubstep (some skrillex here and there) but appreciated the minimalness to it wonder how many undiscovered producers there are around here
Yeah, I’ve been thinking that. Given the creative posts and comments we get on here with huge amounts of knowledge and brain power there must be more artists of various sorts. It would be great to have those people share their work.

I know a certain @Rabidface is an amazing sketch artist! Hope you don’t mind revealing that mate. I’d love to use some pics as music artwork!

Well I never, this thread passed me by. You're rather excellent. I haven't had time to go through them all yet, but I will. Totally wonderful . I now love you

I somehow missed this comment. Thank you!

The tune I wrote for my daughter, whose first autistic enthusiasm is Five Nights at Freddy’s. It’s her voice saying “Freddy’s gonna get you”.
