U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on social media Monday that Israel and Iran have agreed to a “complete and total ceasefire” to be phased in over 24 hours.

Israel and Iran did not immediately acknowledge any ceasefire and heavy Israeli strikes continued in Tehran and other cities early Tuesday.

Earlier Monday, Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of three key Iranian nuclear facilities. The U.S. said no casualties were reported.

Trump spent far too much time in front of cameras before venturing into the political funhouse. I think if he held his tongue and considered his choice of words before speaking, he'd get much more respect.

It was called a weak response because Iran gave the US a 2 hour warning, told them 6 rockets would be fired, told them where they were to be launched from and their target. That is the definition of a weak response intended to placate the Iranian people without actually causing damage to US people or property.

The terms of the ceasefire dictate that current operations would continue on a staggered timeline from 6-24 hours then an additional 24 hour cool down, so yep everyone is getting every last punch in. I’m sure they will both go hog wild up until the last second. These are “free shots”.

And this is Israel and Iran ceasefire.

The attack on Qatar was 12 hours ago. Iran cannot fire on any US base. They are done. The US is not bound by any agreement should Iran attack. The free shots at the US are finished.

At this time no US service personnel have been injured or killed. If Iran chooses to attack a US base, they will be attacked by the US.
