Russia's got some pretty nasty air defense capabilities. Their air defense missiles and systems are the best in the world. Flying anywhere near the combat zone, is suicide.

I would love to be able to see how one of the pilots was cremated while his parachute remained colourful. Must have been on fire on his way down looking at the lack of surrounding soot on the ground.

What happened to their parachutes? Did they fail to open?

Maybe the plane was not flying high enough to unfold the chute completely in time; the SU25 is meant for ground attacks.
Edit: Of course, they have an ejection seat but in some combat situations the process can be messed up.

Probably didn't have chance to deploy, even if it did? he was likely already freefalling and on fire.

I wouldn't say best in the world but no doubt it's good, especially against little countries that don't have the technological capabilities to avoid the defenses.

I love how people responded to my post with their silly little dislikes without addressing the argument. At least you decided to.

The s-400 Triumph, with a 200 - 400 I'm range and can engage with practically anything put into the air.

They also have the s500 that covers between 500 - 1000 km.

The s400 easily goes toe-to-toe with the US Patriot system.
