One person was taken to a Boston hospital by helicopter following a car versus motorcycle crash on Interstate 93 south in Andover Monday evening.
Andover Fire Rescue and Massachusetts State Police were called to the area of River Road and the Interstate 495 interchange around 6:35 p.m., where they found the motorcycle on fire. After the fire was put out, a second Andover fire truck was called to the scene to help establish a landing zone for the helicopter.
The victim, according to scanner reports, had severe burns and other injuries. The victim's identity has not been released. There were no other injuries reported.
Both sides of the highway were closed for nearly 30 minutes as the helicopter landed and then departed for Brigham and Women's Hospital. The helicopter reportedly arrived at the hospital at 7:27 p.m. after departing at 7:20.
