What made you smile/happy today ?

I needed to get a new snow guy this season and so far he's had a very easy go of things (only one or two shovelings in December, relatively mild temperatures) but that's changed this week with it being ungodly cold (lows in the -25°F neighborhood). When I looked at the videos of him clearing the snow in December he had one of those big powered rotating brushes and took around 30 minutes to clear the driveway and walks. Not sure who just showed up today to clear the 5" we had overnight but he arrived in a little hatchback and only seems to have a small shovel....little fucker is going to take hours to clear the snow. Maybe its the boss's kid or someone he's hired but I kind of feel bad for him. Not bad enough to go out and help, maybe I'll offer him a cup of coco or coffee.

Why does this make me feel good? Because I'm getting my money's worth.

As somebody who has shovelled driveways for little to no money before, a cup of something warm makes all the difference.

Feels more rewarding too, getting a small personal touch of appreciation. Sometimes more rewarding than money, depending on the person.

As a kid I shoveled countless driveways and mowed a lot of lawns. Fortunately aside for the parents I was well compensated in both money & soft reimbursements like hot/cold drinks.

It is nice to get shown appreciation. Unfortunately the little guy took off before I could offer him any coco (that sounded way creepier than intended). Only shoveled about 1/3 of the driveway so I'm expecting he comes back.

Imagine if the bastard doesn't come back 😂

Wouldn't be happy, more than anything because its a pain in the ass to find someone new, but since they get paid at the end of the month not like I'm out any money. Its happened before....I send a couple of texts and if they don't deliver as promised I move on to another provider. I know of people who sign contracts for snow removal or yard services and IMO that's nuts. The snow assholes who ask for contracts usually want you to start in October and end in April or May (IMO anything that falls before December or after March is up to mother nature to get rid of). I don't like contracts for whats basically unskilled labor....and since I expect that most of these guys aren't reporting all their income to the tax man (something I have no moral objection to) I don't expect to pay the retail tax and aren't going to be bound by an agreement.

Today I smiled because my male turkey allowed me to pet him without chasing him down.
You raise turkeys? Aren't they usually fairly unpleasant animals that the only payoff is when you chop their heads off? I follow this guy on youtube (mostly for his cute little dog) but he raises ducks which seem to be kind of neat.

White turkeys, I have three. Was four before Thanksgiving, but the fourth made for a great dinner.

I also have ten chickens, but can't tell which ones are roosters as they are still rather young. My chickens will be for the eggs, and my turkeys for meat. After about nine months they weigh roughly 20lbs, I'm sure I could raise the number if I fed them more, but I'd rather not cause legs to break.

We have pekin two ducks, but I don't think they're opposite genders

(Apologies for a slow reply, I work during the day, free during the night.)

coolz

I like the idea of owning poultry but am realistic that they're not something I'm prepared to be responsible for. More than anything I'd want them for the eggs. Maybe when I retire.

And that wasn't a slow reply :)

Whats so different about the winter months, than the rest of the yr?
weather has an effect on that?
Its the limited exposure to daylight in the winter months, it affects my mental health quite badly. I take vitamin D and use a sun lamp to try and help, takes the edge off a bit.

Waking up & finding there's still beer in the fridge.
What would put a smile on my face would be @kaijucore putting up another pic of herself in a super low-cut top---top cleavage.
It’s too cold for that. My baps will return in the spring.
