I used to do a lot of snow camping, skiing into nice places with back pack and setting up camp. All very jolly.

Until you fell over. You'd fall into the snow, often many feet thick and powdery, and then, about a split second after, just as you'd begin to get your head up, the back pack, still moving forward at the original speed, would slam into your head and shove your face back down into the snow.
