Why Russia has struggled to halt Ukraine’s incursion in the Kursk region (2 Viewers)

Users who are viewing this thread

After three weeks of fighting, Russia is still struggling to dislodge Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region, a surprisingly slow and low-key response to the first occupation of its territory since World War II.

It all comes down to Russian manpower and Russian priorities.

With the bulk of its military pressing offensives inside Ukraine, the Kremlin appears to lack enough reserves for now to drive out Kyiv’s forces.

President Vladimir Putin doesn’t seem to view the attack — or at least, give the impression that he views it — as a grave enough threat to warrant pulling troops from eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, his priority target.

“Putin’s focus is on the collapse of the Ukrainian state, which he believes will automatically render any territorial control irrelevant,” wrote Tatiana Stanovaya, senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center.

Putin’s priorities
Months after launching the full-scale invasion in 2022, Putin illegally annexed the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson as part of Russian territory, and their full capture has been a top priority. He declared in June that Kyiv must withdraw its forces from parts of those regions it controls as a condition for peace talks, a demand that Ukraine rejects.

I counter with this kitt. Putin is no slouch. Can we say the same about our economy?

Be aware also that both media outlets we just mentioned are bias and anti Putin. Imo he (Putin) can keep this war at a stalemate way much longer than the West thinks.

This war would have never happened if we had a competent administration in the US. The US has sent 175 billion to one of the most corrupt Countries on Earth and still today no audit.

Although its true that AP does lean left. I don't really see anything they just said here that isn't really true. Although ukraine has certainly lost the numbers game to russia, Russian manpower reserves have absolutely taken a hit. (Again, ukraine being much worse off in that department mind you.)

No equipment? Russia was building up for 60 years for a war that never happened with the west. They have more than enough equipment i promise, even if its aged. So really the biggest issue is finding men to use them.

Although slightly embarassing to putin to have ukrainian forces inside russia, i think he is making the right move. Russia knows ukraine is still on its back foot and they will continue pressing the issue in donbass and beyond, the more ukranians in russia, the less to fight in the south.

First off I saw your post earlier today. Thank you for your service. I have a son that also served.

Imo both news outlets are bias. Here is my issue with your statement.
No one has true numbers on casualties and I doubt we will ever know.
I also think you are confusing The Soviet Union with what is today Russia and regardless of technology they seem to have adapted well.

Imo about the battlefield. Russia is next door and logistically they always had the upper hand not to mention that many Ukrainians identify as Russians and not Ukrainians.

I do not believe Putin ever wanted to "conquer" Ukraine. He was Protecting his Country’s border.
I also believe he is not insane enough to cause a MAD but our own out of control current government might just be if they lose power.

Imo (again) our United States government wanted this war to happen. It’s a money wash of tax payer dollars. Your Country needs you here at home more now than ever. Our issues at home are astronomical to say the least.

So, why not depose the man and get the Russians a decent president?

The casualties are always going to be higher than is said by either side.

As the inheritor of a significant portion of the Soviet stockpile, when speaking of russia you have to take the soviets into account. When speaking of equipment of course russia has spent the past 20 or so years really attempting to make a smaller, modernized army. But what i was getting at was that they could likely supply their army 5x over with older equipment if they needed to.

And as of politics, i tend not to speak politics. Way too much propaganda floating around and nobody knows how to actually think independently anymore. All i hear is a bunch of nonsense and non truths from the right about the left (even though the left does suck and are fairly clueless about running a country) and all the left can talk about is how bad trump is or whatever. Personally i will leave nothing to this earth and could give two shits about how this all turns out

You said “the right speaks non truths about the left” !? Was there any typos in that statement?

Imo the current position of “the left” is solely based on lies, misinformation, propaganda and corruption. Can anyone even list 10 major topics that the left has been honest about ? 😂😬🫨😝

Round them up...ship em out !!! Closed border !!!
The truth is...Russians are so afraid of Putin that the news media won't tell him the truth about Kursk. They don't want to bother him while he is cavorting about in his birthday suit with his favorite St. Petersburg whores in the Kremlin sauna! ( ie - " Kalinka, get your hand off that! Give me my Margarita! NYET! You can't have cocaine right now. ")

Ukraine needs to sue for peace. It has no chance of winning against a superpower with 20x the men and 10x the materiale.
