bizarre Woman set ablaze

A woman, who was seriously injured when she was set on fire during an altercation in Whithorn, Westmoreland on Thursday is to be transferred to a hospital in Kingston for further treatment.

The 42-year-old businesswoman is admitted at Cornwall Regional Hospital with 50 per cent burns to her body.

Two other women who were involved in the brawl are in custody.

The allegations are that the businesswoman went to a gas station in Whithorn, where she got into an argument with a pump attendant.

It's understood that the women had been embroiled in a dispute for well over a week.

The businesswoman was told to leave the premises by the manager. She complied, but returned with her sister, which led to an escalation of the conflict.

There was a tussle, during which the pump attendant poured gasolene on the businesswoman, before using a lighter to set her on fire.

The fire was extinguished by the owner of the gas station.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that the pump attendant was stabbed by the businesswoman's sister during the incident.

The pump attendant was treated and subsequently jailed along with the businesswoman's sister.
