Your favorite fps game

I'm also tired of this trend of lens flares, over saturated/exposed colors, and everything having an LED type glow.
Most FPS's seem to be some kind of tech demo for the latest shader nvidia shit out with a vague story or 1/3rd of a developed game for full price and for just another 17 lots of $5 DLC's you can have the whole game in less than two years! and the obligatory "we're working on the bugs, but in the meantime here's that DLC pushup bra texture asset you've been desperately not asking for".

Fuck the game industry, we have reached the point it's just like hollywood now, lorded over by a handful of companies pushing the same tired shit they know they can vacuum cash from the bottomless pockets of idiot parents with. Pentagon simulators and pokemon games. There's nothing original or challenging anymore, no involving stories, just sequels and eye candy CGI effects filling the void where a decent storyline would have fit.

I used to like the Medal Of Honor and Doom games on the PS1, at the time they were great. One day, around 2000/2001 I was reading a computer magazine in some waiting room somewhere or other and there were screenshots of this new game that was being released soon. The game was called Return To Castle Wolfenstein and looked the dogs bollocks, I went and bought my first computer because of that game and its still my favourite.

Part of the problem is the designers and artists are all going to college/uni and learning from the same design textbooks and psychology is getting more and more heavily pushed in the basics of level and narrative design.

I'll bring up bannerlord again lol, how long have taleworlds been developing that now? I think it's almost a decade (seriously). They have refused buyouts from paradox, EA etc because the guy who owns the company is a perfectionist and he knows they'll rape his IP like so many others who sell out to the big names. These big publishers run on schedules and want DLC content wherever possible. That's all that matters now. If you have a great idea for a game that's gonna take ages to make I hope you're rich enough as your own company to tell some suited asshole who wants to cut half the story, put it in 16 DLC's and release by friday to go fuck himself. That's the state of the industry today, fucked. The publishers rule, not the devs. We've come full circle to atari E.T.
