I’ve already told the retained tampon that had been up there for a whole month story before.
So here is another.
As a junior doctor, I was asked to perform a rectal examination on a patient by my Consultant. The patient turned out to be the most morbidly obese person I had seen in real life. As in special ambulance needed to get them to hospital and they had to have a special bed rented for them.
It took two nurses to hold their buttock up for me to attempt to find their anus. It made a squelching sound like getting your boot unstuck from mud, before I was punched in the face by the smell of shit, sweat, urine and fungus. The batty crease skin was red, splitting open and there were plaques of thrush (Candida fungal infection) as well as copious amounts of faecal soiling. Even with the two nurses heaving the gargantuan buttock upward, I had to blindly find the anus with my finger. All this with a standard glove as sadly human hospitals don’t stock those full arm ones seen on farms!
