This video is an example of the shamples that is America and the tipping culture. He basically got a 25% tip and still isn't happy! The issue is this is actually single handedly putting me off visiting America!!

Is there a rule regarding tips? Why should they be relying on us tipping them to make a decent wage?

The guy who wasn't happy with his tip should get another job. Perhaps Chippendales. But imo, it's right to tip 20% for good service because oftentimes the employers pay about $2/ hrs. which sucks...

Yes, there is, but I heard it could be different for waitresses because of the tips. I'm not sure. I do know most employers want to pay the very least they can while expecting the best work and if there's any kind of loophole to let them do that, they sure will take it.

1) Bob graduated from school didn’t go on fancy vacations , bought a home didn’t rent. Never bought fancy cars. Didn’t buy expensive clothes. He lived well, but didn’t waste money. At age 40, he saved over 5 million in his IRA. Roth fund. Then he retired. Using his pension and money from investments without even touching principle, he lives like he won the lottery.

2) Jack graduated from school, and went to trendy extremely expensive restaurants and exotic vacations. Didn’t have any leftover money so he had to rent. Even had to spend a lot of money at the laundromat. Of course he had to lease expensive cars. At age 40 Jack had nothing but a shit ton of bills.

People choose to be less fortunate ask Jack

1) Bob is constantly bored, spends his life trying to dream up ways to save money instead of ways to have fun but, he does this even in retirement and all the way to his death because that's just the way he is.
This extreme wallet-tightness also caused never to him marry anyone or have kids so nobody to leave all that money that he never spends or anything he's ever fought with himself to buy and in the end the government just takes it all.

2) Jack had fun.
Those times make him smile even when he has nothing.

This tipping culture sucks, it only serves to benefit the employer, making him spend less on employees. I'm sorry but I don't see any point in paying for the product, paying for the delivery fee and also tipping the delivery guy. As mentioned above, this is a courtesy, not an obligation.

I can guarantee that if asked, that delivery guy could not explain why he is entitled to a tip or a certain amount. The fact is that he is not ever entitled to a tip.

This tipping culture sucks, it only serves to benefit the employer, making him spend less on employees. I'm sorry but I don't see any point in paying for the product, paying for the delivery fee and also tipping the delivery guy. As mentioned above, this is a courtesy, not an obligation.

now some places, gratuity is added. so no need to tip.

according to my elders, standard tipping was 10% in the '60s, it crept up to 15% afterward, which I consider standard

just yesterday, i had dinner out with family, and when the bill was presented to me, the selection was 18%, 22%, and 25%

this is just insane...of course there was a "custom" selection, but even i don't do 15% anymore, so i clicked on 18%

i've told several whinging waitresses (in diners) that tips are optional, and to stop complaining...just last month several were in a clique yapping how poor their tips were (in front of customers no less)...after a while, i got up from my table, briskly walked over, and told them tips were optional even for good service, and the reason their tips are poor is "because the service here sucks."

they tried to talk over me, but i have "a commander's voice" (so told me by others), and i told them to be quiet and stop talking over me, and that i was sure i wasn't the only one waiting for a coffee refill...when i went back to my table, i noticed a man from the next table looking at me, so i finally looked at him and he gave me the old head nod, so i returned it

them waitresses were yapping around the coffee maker while people were waiting on refills. but will complain about the "cheezy" tips they get.


yes dude it is an extra fee. but because that extra fee,i dont tip. the waiter/tress can take that up with the owner!

If you're a online business, buy a shelf company and a bank account for a few grand you can funnel your sales to the Cayman islands or any other place with no corporate tax and no payroll taxes and pay yourself a "wage" from that to your local bank account and pay your taxes only on that income. Your business capital is out of reach. Apple does it. Nike does it. They all do it.

up till about 10yrs ago,i had an accountant who used to do the books for the mob. he was good. really good. i always got money back. he passed from lung cancer. now the one i have is not as good,but them guys are harder to find now.

Why tip at all? Even with zero tips the employer is required to pay federal min wage, or state min wage if it is higher. Nobody in the United States works for less than minimum wage. And that is way more than any waitress is worth.

Thank you for posting that. That's why I tip 20% even if they don't come back by to refill drinks or whatnot. We don't know what they're going through and we should care about others more than ourselves..

I've NEVER seen someone act like that over a tip! I would of called his boss & I can bet he would of gotten fired for this shit! Honestly, he's a fucking pizza delivery boy, he probably hates his fucking life and job anyway! This is rare, at least I'd like to think! But like previous posts say 10% of the bill is the norm, if ur at a nice restaurant 15% is better. Also remember too, waiters make minimum wage here, they don't make good hourly $ so they live off tips! Everywhere else in the world they prob make better $ hourly... Also if u are a regular at a restaurant tipping is a MUST cuz they will remember u! If u tip well the next time u come in u will have good service, fast service, good food etc... but if u don't tip they will purposely be slow or not refill ur drinks or some other shit... I heard tipping in other countries is actually rude? Is that true? Does anyone know?
