I worked beef processing in TX in my early adult years. Animal slaughter and rendering is very clinical, not gory at all.

Probably the goriest thing seen there was the hide removing device, where it essentially yanks the entire hide off a carcass in one swoop. Very efficient, pretty incredible technology.

I suppose the kill floor could psychologically impact someone, if they’re not steeled towards it. The majority of the processing, though, nah. There’s so many people working their own very specific part, you don’t really associate that with a living creature less than an hour ago.

Try reading a thread before adding to it.

Pigs going to slaughter are likely on YouTube, and we do allow YouTube links, but more than likely the age restrictions require the user to watch it through the YT app or website. I myself have the initiative to raise poultry, so I can understand this mindset.

However, that is where the line is drawn.

Beyond that you have the people who want to dismember an animal for fun, crush cats with high heels, or the Chinese blatantly boiling dogs while they're alive. That is the shit that will have PETA causing a headache. Furthermore, websites have been shut down over such content.

As long as the video wasn’t made by someone with the express purpose of torturing an animal I think it should be allowed? If a dog walks off a cliff it isn’t technically animal cruelty, but I’d bet the book would be thrown at the poster as if it were.. 🙄

It's not an Uncommon reaction. I grew up Hunting, and ANY HINT of gratuitous Cruelty was absolutely a SERIOUS NO NO. Honestly I didn't realize it was classed as animal abuse, I thought it was some sort of culling method.

We all will, there is about to be a drop in population so drastic that most of the people in the world will be directly effected in some way.

Personally there is a line, i love meat, i myself am a butcher. I feed people, and the animals i process are all killed in humane manners. You can tell by the shade of the meat when an animal was stressed before death.

There is a line you can draw. Between a humane slaughter operation and someone shoving a knife up a dogs ass, or skinning a dog alive. Or stomping kittens with heels. Etc.

Saying those two are the same simply because they both end in the death of an animal is ignorant. The world is not so binary.
