disaster Helicopter Crashes Into NY Hudson River

Did I ever tell you guys the story of the time I went on a 20 minute helicopter ride in NYC and after we landed I convinced my friend to go on too, and that it would be safe, then his flight experienced total engine failure and they had to make an emergency landing in some random parking lot somewhere. He was angry at me for a long time because I think he shit or pissed his pants. Took me a few to realise that had they not found a level lot they would have all died. Turns out a helicopter doesn't just plummet out of the sky when the engine turns off, it can still glide as its rotors keep spinning, it just needs to find a level place to land. The helicopter in this video seems to have torn in half while still in the air.

:poker: where's second tower?

My father in law was an army medic during Vietnam, and he mostly wouldn’t talk about his time over there.

Except one story - he said he was on a chopper evac run to pick up wounded, and the pilot was hit and they crashed. The bodies and bodybags saved his life, he was the only one. They like cushioned the impact as he bounced around inside.

Which has nothing to do with the news article. Just kind of a neat story when you can get him to talk about it.
