Eh, I'm not saying that her sentence was just and fair, but I would hardly call twelve years in prison and having to flee your home country to avoid being murdered by vigilantes 'scot free.'

Besides which, she has a family and children of her own and is living at peace with the world. Whatever her complicity in the original crimes may have actually been, she is obviously not out there murdering people. Isn't the entire fucking point of prison to rehabilitate people so that they fit back into society? Or are you one of those who feels that the only purpose of prison is to punish wrongdoers and either kill them or lock them away to rot forever, regardless of their willingness to change?

Nah bra, you can sugar coat it and obfuscated it all you want. But what about the victims? The cavalierness and perfidy she used against her own flesh and blood. Fuck that count, she can do anything she wants. Those poor girls are gone, a whole life wasted. And of course she's going to stay out of trouble. I was reading comments about kh from an wrticle about her childhood.....and this woman kept sticking up for her until someone demanded to know if SHE WAS HOMOLKA!?

Always a fascinating story. I spent 8 days in the University Ave. courtroom as a spectator for that trial. Most intense shit I've ever seen. Although the public monitors were shut off while they played the videos, the surround sound audio throughout the courtroom remained. The audio was enough, without the visuals. Just horrible to listen to what those poor girls went through. The French and Mahaffy families would get up and leave the room together every time they had to cue up a video. I hope someone get to him like Dahmer,before he dies in prison of old age

Was a Pact with the Devil - a plea bargain for a reduced term - she just had to testify against her husband-partner in the three murders. In return she would be charged with manslaughter - min 12 years - instead of murder and possibly become deemed a Dangerous Sex Offender (no real chance of parole...ever). Evidence had been withheld by Pauls defense attorney during the trial and she capitalized on that: she realized that the recorded sex tapes had not been brought to the attention of the prosecution and she promptly signed on the dotted line.

Convicted of manslaughter in the deaths of 3 teenage girls (one of whom was her younger sister) she used her 12 year sentence to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Psychology so that she could work with abused women. When she wasn't at the books she was involved sexually with a dominate lesbian inmate (the guy one) and another that she had an 'affair' with.

Karla was fine living in Quebec - not many in Quebec had even heard of the Paul and Karla murder case in Ontario. She married, had a child and later left Canada of her own accord under the name Leanne Teale - she didn't flee. She is last known to be living in Guadeloupe, under the name Leanne Bordelais. The surname Teale was what Paul had changed his surname to before the two of them were caught and charged.

Dang, amazing how much that *now deleted* pic of Mark looked like Paul. Having followed the Bernardo-Homolka case from day one, I checked that photo a few times, added 20 or so years to it and it looked like a bang on photo of Paul.

I think that Marko, if he wound up or winds up in jail, might want some plastic surgery...here in Hamilton (just outside of St. Catherines) most would look at him and think Paul - BestGore wound quickly become GoneGore.
