movies Children of the Corn (wtf)

I never watched Children of the Corn, but this is what I think it is about. The year is 1962, the setting - a struggling farm on the brink of bankruptcy. The farmer, in desperation, visits an old Native American shaman who gives him special Indian corn seeds. The farmer plants the seeds and the corn grows to record size. There is only one problem. The cornfield has attracted a pest - children. "Yer trespassin' on mah land!" Shouts the farmer in frustration. He fires his shotgun in the air. *boom!* "Eeee!" The children all scream as they flee from the corn field. "Go on, git!" He shouts at them. The children return to the farmer's corn field later that night and begin doing mischief - setting off firecrackers, firing BB guns, throwing rocks, etc. Hearing the noise of the children in his field again the farmer goes outside to chase them away once more. It is 1AM. "Git outta mah corn field you dam kids!" The pitter patter sound of the children's shuffling through the corn stalks fill the farmer's ears as he looks around in the darkness holding his lantern. Suddenly one of the kids runs up behind him and knocks the latern out of his hand. The glass breaks and the flames ignite the corn. The field begins to burn. *Boom! Boom!* The farmer fires his gun. The flames engulf the farmer, he is trapped and can't escape. The eyes of the children stare at him from the perimeter outside the field as he burns to death. The next day the farmer's contorted smouldering remains are found by the local fire chief. "My God," he says, "poor old man Jenkins." The children meanwhile have returned to the field and are once again playing their games. [Children of the Corn] Roll credits.
