Police Dude called the police because he got too high, he then grabbed the officer's gun and shot himself in the head

Charleston, Illinois — On January 25, 2025, shortly after 1 a.m., Charleston Police Officers responded to a request for a well-being check of a man, later identified as 22-year-old Yahacov Dennis of County Club Hills, IL at a gas station at 200 W. Lincoln Ave. in Charleston. Dennis, visibly distressed, told them he had smoked marijuana and suspected it was laced with PCP. As officers attempted to calm him and gather information for paramedics, Dennis' condition worsened, and he began shaking uncontrollably. In a sudden escalation, he managed to grab an officer’s firearm, firing a single shot. Officers immediately attempted lifesaving measures before Dennis was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

DAMN, J EDGAR WAS RIGHT!!! MURDEROUS MARIJUANA ARE MAKING IDIOTS KILL THEMSELVES. OH, my bad, NOT A PROBLEM. CARRY ON, FOOLS

That PD doesn't use retention holsters? It should be very hard to disarm someone using one unless you know what you are doing or are very lucky.

Retention holsters that I have seen require that you push the gun forward before you can unholster it. The subject was in the right place to do that fairly easily; he just needed to pull it towards himself. That said, I thought for sure that it would be the smallest officer who was going to lose their gun.

I have used a few models similar to what you would expect from most PDs. Level 3 is more than just pushing forward. It's not impossible or anything I'm just surprised someone supposedly too high on drugs could do it so fluidly.

Good. One less tax fund sucker

New drug coming from the southern border made in China. Makes users commit suicide.

Part of the new chemical warfare upon the US.

Funny but PCP has been around forever. Lucky he didn’t go ballistic. No pun intended but it gives people the strength of an Ape.

Dude probably had no clue what he was doing. Shit move by cops getting that close and losing his gun, but they were trying to talk him down and keep things from escalating. Lucky as fuck he didn’t unload on them.

Sad all around.

Three of my children are LEOs. I admit I try to see all sides. Don’t beat me up for that.

These officers handled the situation very good in my opinion. There's no way they could of known he was going to do that. They treated him with so much respect, dignity, and kindness without an alterior motive to put a case on him. They TRULY were trying to actually help him, which is unfortunately not as common as people think.
... As far as the drug goes, PCP isn't anything like media makes it sound. It actually feels really good, and makes you chill as fuck. It might of just been some really strong weed or laced with an auxiliary designer drug/chemical) formula like 2ci, 2ce, or most likely "spice (fake weed soaked in chemical formulas)," and just gave him a panic attack. I get anxiety attacks from smoking weed, but thoroughly enjoy PCP, LSD, Xanax, ecstasy, and of course heroin and/or fentanyl without any discomfort, anxiety, convulsions, or paranoia. Cocaine & crack will make you feel all that when you start jonesing on the come-down.
... Lastly if anyone was curious, "Charleston, IL" & "Country Club Hills" is a very distant suburb of Chicago. It's basically in bumble fuck. I think it's part of McHenry County. McHenry County, IL has always had a lot of "Smoke Shops" were they sell drug paraphernalia, blunts, rolling papers, whip-its, etc. That fake weed "Spice" is also sold in these shops, and there's a lot of different kinds (each with different chemicals that try to mimic THC, but with addictive properties. I was never into all that, but it kinda became popular around the 2010's with people that had to take drug tests for probation or parole as an alternative drug (especially in the country suburbs. If this guy had a panic attack, I think this is the most likely culprit. Unless he intended to commit suicide, and made all this up to access "suicide by cop," though I doubt that.
