On April 15, 2025, in the Sinanpaşa neighborhood of Beşiktaş, Istanbul, 44-year-old Cengiz Şire was sitting at a street café with his wife when he was approached from behind by a hooded individual who opened fire. Cengiz Şire sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was critically injured. Emergency medical teams arrived promptly and transported him to the hospital, where he underwent surgery. Despite all medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries
Following the incident, the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch initiated an investigation. By reviewing security camera footage, they determined that the suspect changed vehicles multiple times before arriving in the Kağıthane district. The assailant was identified as Kadir , who had no prior criminal record. He was apprehended by police in Edirne while attempting to flee abroad. Kadir was taken into custody and transported to the Public Security Branch for further processing.
