Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil
A 63-year-old businesswoman, joana was killed after being pushed by a homeless man, 47-year-old Valdenilson in front of a car. She was run over, and died at the scene. Local residents captured Valdenilson, tied him to a pole, and beat him up.
Valdenilson told police that Joana had refused to give him a snack. Knowing at what time Joana left her house to take out the trash, Valdenilson lay in wait, before pushing her.
A friend of Joana, however, has publicly disputed this version of events. She claimed that it was a case of wrong place, wrong time, and that Valdenilson was a drug addict, whom she had once seen armed with a knife. However, she also noted that she wasn't aware of anyone who had problems with Valdenilson.
The driver of the white car fled the scene, and has not been located.
