Random It looks like dangerous job

The food group was clearly lost in translation.

I have so many questions. Such as: What was he trying to make?
Why didn't anyone back up when it made a noise it clearly was not supposed to be making?
And was there anyone standing directly in the line of fire?

Although I did not recognize that machine, I recall some old guy puffing rice in Korea in 1980. I suspect that's what the guy was trying to do.
You have no idea how many lives are lost each year just to bring you Rice Krispies.

I mean, I probably wouldn't be all that surprised. What with the legally acceptable limit of human remains in processed food and all.

The Korean rice puffer machine is a different machine but similarly archaic looking. This guy above is making popcorn using the Chinese method & machine which Chinese & Korean street vendors still use today everywhere. There's a few Korean grocers in the northern Virginia area that have those rice puffer machines. I haven't seen any of the popcorn exploders though but, I don't think you should use the large ones indoors really anyway.

So what gets blown out of that dirty canon-looking thing either goes into the dirty net or has to be scraped up off the sidewalk. I think I prefer the air popper in my kitchen.

Yeah, I don't know why they insist on exploding the kernals except that's part of the draw (for street vendors anyway) and it doesn't use any oil I don't believe so maybe that's a little bit healthier. The gimmick is also they're showing you a historic method of how they made popcorn which is humankind's first snack food dating back to over 5000 years ago.

There's a man at my local Farmer's Market that had a similar business but he made the salty sweet version of popcorn (several years before it was on grocery store shelves) in a huge cauldron like kettle and he wears/wore a Colonial American outfit while doing it. He makes good side money w/that space & he was doing this since back in the late 80s/early 90s. I don't know if it's always the same guy nowadays but, if you've never checked out the local Farmer's Markets they hold all over America during certain seasons, it's worth a gander if only for this popcorn. It's awesome. I wish they'd have that kind at the theaters actually especially if they're going to charge $12 or more for a small freaking popcorn. 🫤

You see, if I saw a man dressed up like a colonist making sanitary popcorn, I might buy some. That sounds good. I think that a machine like that is necessary to puff rice and that's the only thing I remember seeing like that. I didn't buy any because I'm not really into puffed rice.
