Warning: Children Mother holding her child got hit by reversing truck

In Kazakhstan, a driver in a Gazelle van hit a young mother and her child while reversing. As a result of the accident, the woman suffered multiple fractures and abrasions. She was hospitalized in intensive care, while the child suffered minor injuries. A criminal case has been opened.

I suspect that the truck was rolling backward with the engine off. It seems as though mom would have heard the engine had it been running.
